Osman

Osman Gazi or Osman the First – son of Artugrul Gazi, chief of the Turkmen nomadic Kayi tribe of the Byzantine border region of Anatolia. When the Seljuk Empire was defeated by the Mongols at the Battle of Kochdag, the powerful Anatolian Turkmen empire became a Mongol tributary. Artugrul Gazi was a Turkmen bey loyal to this empire. In this coup of the Mongols, he, like other Turkmen beyds, paid taxes in exchange for the freedom of his beylik.

After the death of Artugrul Gazi, his son Usman Bey succeeded to the throne. Uthman Bey was an efficient, clever, and kind man. So Bera unhesitatingly replaced him with Artugrul Gazi. But Uthman showed no mercy to his uncle Dundar Bey for his treachery. In the border areas, he began to expand his territory, fighting against the Christian land rulers (tekfur) appointed by the emperor. Uthman and his alpras (army) used to conquer small lands. Uthman's Shaykh Edeb Ali Ahi used to set up a commercial base there, inviting the people of the Christian region to Islam. Osman continued to succeed, while the Seljuks, under the rule of the Mongols, lost power. Due to this, people's trust in Seljuks also decreased. Usman had all the leadership qualities and abilities. Therefore, the surrounding settlements of the Qa'i settlement were quickly influenced and accepted by the leadership of Uthman. Usman's reputation spread everywhere. The people, already fed up with the influence of the Mongols on the Seljuks, gradually rushed to the border areas to unite under the flag of Osman!
